Infiniti Powercats — Luxury Performance Catamarans
Infiniti Powercats develops the Infiniti Powercat platform: luxury performance catamarans in carbon composite construction with DSS foil assist, built around the way each owner intends to use them. Two models are offered — the Powercat 48 and the Powercat 60 — and the company has a presence in Dubai, Palma de Mallorca and Miami.
The platform
Every Infiniti Powercat combines efficient semi-displacement hull forms with Dynamic Stability System (DSS) foils. At speed the foils extend from the hulls and generate lift: less of each hull is in the water, resistance falls and pitching is damped. At low speed, in shallow water and alongside, the foils retract, so there is no drag and no increase in draft. Weight and hull form do most of the work — in an independent performance prediction for a 50 nautical mile airport transfer, the Powercat 60 used about half the fuel per nautical mile of a conventional 55 ft monohull — and at speed the foils reduce resistance further. With engines raised and foils retracted, the draft is under 3 ft, opening lagoons and anchorages that deeper boats cannot use.
The models
- Powercat 48 — 14.7 m length, 6.0 m beam, up to 12 guests, top speed over 40 knots with twin Volvo Penta D6 engines, in Tender and Fisher configurations. A fast, shallow-draft companion to a larger yacht.
- Powercat 60 — 18.3 m length, 7.6 m beam, up to 12 guests, top speed over 40 knots with up to 1,600 hp, in GT Coupé, GT Flybridge, Transfer and Limousine configurations.
Configurations for every mission
The Powercat 48 runs as a superyacht Tender or, in Fisher form, as a serious sportfishing platform. The Powercat 60's GT Coupé and GT Flybridge suit owners who want to drive themselves, while the Transfer and Limousine are arranged for moving guests, crew and principals in quiet comfort. Every configuration begins from the same engineering base, so no owner pays for compromises designed for someone else's boat.
Solutions
The platform is configured around each operation: superyacht tender and chase support, hospitality and destination transfers for resorts and island routes, and commercial operations including crew, guest and VIP movement. A Maldives case study describes a resort operation configured around the platform for airport-to-island guest transfers, where speed, shallow draft and a composed ride matter every single day.
A proven record
The technology behind the platform has been developed and measured on the water since 2011. The record begins with the Quant 28 and 30 sportsboats, the Infiniti 36 (first in class at La Larga and second in class at Palma Vela in 2026) and the DSS-assisted Wild Oats XI, and continues through the Quant 23, the Hugo Boss Vendée Globe campaign, the Infiniti 46 – Maverick (class wins at the Rolex Middle Sea Race, the RORC Transatlantic Race and the SoCal 300), the SeAir Mini, the Reichel Pugh 60 – Wild Joe, the Baltic 142 – Canova (winner, Sailing Yacht of the Year at the World Superyacht Awards) and the fully flying 35-footer QFX on the Swiss lakes. The Infiniti 52 followed: Tulikettu shattered the Paprec 600 Saint-Tropez record in 2026, and Zeus won ORC A and the ORC Pacific Coast Championship at the 2025 Rolex Big Boat Series in San Francisco. Each project contributes to the next.
Innovation and the team
Two decades of DSS foil development in offshore sailing now serve power. By damping pitching and reducing resistance, the foils address one of the factors that can contribute to seasickness while cutting fuel burn. The company is led by naval architect Hugh Welbourn with Mark Saunders, Dan Jackson and Olia Terentieva, working with shipyards, owners, commercial operators, brokers and advisers from first conversation through development, validation and realisation.
The commission
Each commission follows four stages — brief, development, validation and realisation — beginning with a conversation about where and how the boat will be used, continuing through engineering, design refinement and sea-trial validation, and ending in delivery. A technical pack is available on request, and a VR walkthrough of the platform can be arranged directly with the team.
Performance, efficiency, versatility
The philosophy is simple: never again accept the last yacht of the previous generation. Both models exceed 40 knots and carry up to 12 guests, holding a composed, level ride in conditions that force comparable boats to slow down. Foil assistance lifts the hulls just enough to cut resistance without adding draft, so speed, efficiency and comfort no longer trade against one another.
Working with yachts, resorts and operators
For superyachts, the platform runs guest shuttles, provisioning and crew logistics as a true ship's tender. For hotels and destinations, the journey becomes part of the destination, carrying guests between airports, marinas and islands. For commercial operators, the same hull moves crew, guests and VIPs with predictable operating economics.
Inside, both models offer considered interiors — a bright salon, galley and guest cabins on the Powercat 60, open deck space and practical stowage on the Powercat 48 — arranged around each owner's brief and finished to superyacht standards. The platform is developed by Infiniti Powercats Limited, drawing on the same team and technology behind Infiniti's sailing yachts and two decades of Dynamic Stability System research, records and race wins.
